PurpleSkip
Privacy Policy
Effective 21 August 2026
Privacy at a glance: PurpleSkip processes matching watch-page and playback information locally. It does not transmit or retain that information.
PurpleSkip for Crunchyroll ("PurpleSkip") is provided by NPCsheep. PurpleSkip is an unofficial independent browser extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Crunchyroll, LLC or Sony Group Corporation.
Single purpose
PurpleSkip makes Crunchyroll episode playback more hands-free by activating the website's own visible controls for intro, recap, credits/outro, and next episode, plus making a permitted autoplay attempt for a newly loaded episode.
Information processed locally
When enabled on a matching Crunchyroll watch page, PurpleSkip temporarily reads:
- the current matching Crunchyroll watch-page URL path and query string;
- visible player-control labels, nearby end-screen/overlay text, and interface state;
- local video playback state, such as play/pause status, current time, duration, readiness, and whether playback has ended.
This local processing is necessary to determine whether one of Crunchyroll's own playback controls is available and safe to activate. PurpleSkip does not read passwords, payment details, cookies, authentication tokens, messages, or unrelated browsing pages.
For Chrome Web Store disclosure purposes, these locally processed values fall under Web history (only the current matching watch-page URL) and Website content(player controls, end-screen/overlay text, interface state, and playback state).
Information stored
PurpleSkip stores only the following settings in chrome.storage.local:
- the version of the disclosure to which the user consented;
- whether PurpleSkip is enabled or disabled.
PurpleSkip does not store episode URLs, viewing history, player-control text, playback position, or page content.
Information transmitted or shared
PurpleSkip does not transmit information to the publisher or any third party. It contains no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, telemetry, remote code, or external network requests. No user information is sold, shared, licensed, or used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or other unrelated purposes.
Retention and deletion
Page and playback values are processed ephemerally in the active tab and are not retained by the extension. The consent and enabled settings remain in local extension storage until changed by the user or removed when the extension's data is cleared or the extension is uninstalled.
User control
PurpleSkip is disabled by default. The extension begins processing a matching page only after the user reads the disclosure and selects Enable PurpleSkip. The user can disable it at any time from the toolbar popup or uninstall the extension through Chrome.
Security and Limited Use
PurpleSkip uses the narrowest site access needed for its single purpose and does not load remotely hosted executable code. Its use of information is limited to providing the disclosed user-facing functionality and is intended to comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children's privacy
PurpleSkip does not retain or transmit personal information from children or from any user.
Changes
If PurpleSkip's data practices change, the publisher will update this policy, update the Chrome Web Store disclosures, and present a new prominent disclosure and consent request before the changed processing begins.
